MY SOVEREIGN BODY

In 2020, the vibrant energy of the Amsterdam Red Light District faded as Covid-19 silenced the streets around my former studio.

No longer were there women in red spotlights, no spectators to gaze upon them. Time and location uniquely underscored my exploration of a different perspective on the female form.

The project "My Sovereign Body" seeks to liberate the concept of the nude from a purely sexualised context, emphasizing the innocence and sovereignty of the body. By focusing on body integrity as a fundamental right, the viewer is invited to appreciate the beauty of the human form far beyond mere eroticism. Collaborating with models, photographers, and writers, this new series tells the stories of these women allowing their narratives to shine through alongside their bodies, celebrating freedom and self-identity.
